Description

As part of the programme of events to celebrate the tercentenary of the birth of Linnaeus, this meeting will consist of a broad range of topics in orchid biology from Linnaeus’ time to the present day. Modern research on orchids is moving into an ever greater number of fields, and this conference intends to showcase many of these.

Topics will include Linnean orchid taxonomy, historical and modern species concepts in orchids, orchid-fungus interactions, phylogenetics, biogeography, population genetics, evolutionary development (evo-devo), pollination biology and conservation. The talks will include historical and contemporary accounts of the field, with suggestions for potential future developments and areas for research.
