The next meeting of the European Iron Club will be held at King’s College London from 13th to 15th September. The meeting will be held in association with the Inorganic Biochemistry Discussion Group (IBDG), a group affiliated to both the Royal Society of Chemistry and the British Biophysical Society.
Thursday 13th:

9 am – 6 pm Oral/Poster presentations
7.30 pm Concert (Guy’s Chapel)
Saturday 15th:
9 am – 6 pm Oral/Poster presentations
7.30 pm Conference Dinner/River Thames Cruise

The meeting programme will comprise a small number of 30-minute “invited” talks together with 15-minute oral presentations/posters from submitted abstracts. The following people have agreed to give 30-minute talks:

Andrew Gorringe, Salisbury (Bacterial iron metabolism)
Bob Hider, London (Iron and neurodegenerative diseases)
Alison May, Cardiff (Sideroblastic anaemia)
Fanis Missirlis, Bethesda/London (Drosophila as model system to study iron metabolism)
Martina Muckenthaler, Heidelberg (Haemochromatosis and the regulation of hepcidin)
Kaila Srai, London (Hepcidin: mechanism of action)
Swee Lay Thein, London (Sickle cell anaemia)
Jo Marx (Utrecht) will be giving the closing talk at the meeting.
Poster presentations will involve “Ward” rounds when authors will be given up to 3 minutes to present and discuss their posters to an audience in front of their poster.

The registration fee for the meeting will be £160, if paid before 1st August, 2007, or £200, if paid on or after 1st August. On-line registration will shortly be available via the King’s College London website.
