Description
The Young Chemist in Industry symposium is an annual, one day meeting, which aims to showcase the chemistry being undertaken in an industrial setting by younger chemists. This symposium represents a unique opportunity for such chemists to present their science to an audience outside their own organisation. It also incorporates a competitive element with prizes for the best presentations. In addition to the participants’ lectures, a lecture from an experienced, high profile industrial figure is included to round off the event.
This year, Laramie Gaster from GlaxoSmithKine will present this lecture. This meeting will be of interest to industrial chemists who will be able to discover what their contemporaries do in other branches of the industry. This may provide an awareness of areas they had not previously considered investigating. The meeting will also be of interest to students who are considering pursuing an industrial career, to give them an insight into potential opportunities. The lectures will encompass a wide range of topics, including medicinal chemistry, process chemistry and new methodologies.
