    • The Nature Darwin Debate: Part Two

      Tuesday, 03 Mar 2009 - 12:41 UTC

Have you secured tickets for next Monday’s Darwin debate at Kings Place on the theme What Price Biodiversity ? If not, do so now. Just look at this line up:

Prof James Lovelock – perhaps the most famous environmentalist on the planet and proponent of the Gaia Hypothesis.

Michael Meacher, MP – Labour politician and former Minister of State for the Environment.

Sir Crispin Tickell – former diplomat turned environmental campaigner

A professor, an MP and a knight of the realm make an appropriately diverse bunch to discuss biodiversity.

      Here’s what they’ll be debating:

We pay for our food, water, healthcare and energy, so why not pay for the many ‘services’ currently obtained for free from biological diversity? Services such as insect-pollination, central to food production; or healthy forests, which we need for clean water and to stop soil erosion. Shouldn’t we invest now in our biodiversity in order to secure our future needs?

Hopefully see some of you there.
