Photographer Rosamond Purcell has worked in venerable museum collections in the US, Europe, and Russia in search of the visual thrills that come from contemplating natural history specimens. With the help of the curatorial staff at the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology, she explored their vast ornithological holdings to photograph the skillfully engineered nests and surprisingly diverse eggs that appear in the new book, Egg & Nest (Harvard University Press).
