Description

Course details:
High content analysis (HCA) is an imaging approach to cell based assays that allows quantitation of cellular events in response to compound treatment or gene alteration.

HCA utilizes automated and quantitative fluorescent microscopy and analysis software. The use of multiple labels allows the simultaneous measurement of expression level, morphology, and spatial localization of targets and organelles in an individual cell or population of cells. The technologies available for HCA have allowed scientists to better visualize and quantitate cellular processes and events, identify targets for therapeutics and determine the toxicological effects of compounds. The efficient automated nature of HCA improves productivity and eliminates subjective bias.

This course will introduce and teach individuals how to use the GE In Cell Analyzer 1000 for HCA. The first part of the course will provide a brief overview of HCA and discuss methods for developing assays for imaging and analysis. The second part is hands-on where you will learn to use the In Cell Analyzer 1000 and its associated software to image cells in multiwell plates then establish a protocol to analyze a fluorescent image.
