Yes, please do take a look at the thread – It’s about women in science being harassed in India. It’s a problem that I think is too often swept under the carpet, but is no doubt preventing women from pursuing the careers they deserve. If any woman on this forum has had experience of it, do speak out!

I think this issue is just for sensational, and in fact not based on any hard evidence. Women in India do have freedom to higher education including research. And Indian women are increasingly coming to research, specially in biological sciences. There are almost equal number of women who occupy higher posts in Research Institutes in India. For examle, the Department of Biotechnology was run by Manju Sharma for a long time, with efficiency and dedication and she has made a paradigm shift in the research funding. There are many departments and institutions headed by women. Because the supervisor is vested with authority, many of them misuse the power, but it is not targeted just against girls. Please be factual before making sweeping statements.
