Due to the success of the UK Science Media Centre, Canada is planning on opening its own next summer according to a recent article in University Affairs.

The Canadian initiative will be mostly a virtual centre that is completely bilingual, to help reporters find experts and get briefings on topical concerns in health, technology, the environment, medicine, engineering and the physical, life and social sciences. The steering committee also envisions that the centre will be benificial to researchers in helping them better understand what motivates reporters.
