Speaking to Times Higher Education after the debate at the World Conference of Science Journalists, Lord Drayson indicated that a public engagement component would be included in the upcoming REF and that it was down to HEFCE to work out the detail.
According to the article in the Times Higher, Lord Drayson said the main aim was to “encourage the next generation” of scientific leaders to engage with the public and that a wide range of activities would be rewarded under the REF.
