UK Space policy

Richard Branson has proposed space tourism ports for the UK but at the moment they’re only confirmed in Dubai, the US and I think Australia. He’s also going to work with government (BBC reported) on a new launcher technology which this country hasn’t had for over 30 years.
Should this be better supported and if so, how?
