This free RIN event takes place on 1 July 2009 at the Royal Society of Medicine in London.
Aimed at scholarly publishers, university librarians, higher education policy makers and researchers, the event will offer an opportunity to discuss the findings of the report RIN report E-journals: their use, value and impact. The event will also look at the question the report raises about how researchers in different institutions and in different subject areas make use of e-journals. Key speakers include Professor David Nicholas, Director, Department of Information Studies, University College London and CIBER group, Richard Gedye, Research Manger at Oxford University Press and Dr Emily Lyons, Scientific Manager at Imperial College London. Book your place at www.rin.ac.uk/ejournals-event.

I am currently reading the report and found some of the results fascinating, especially how much they seem to agree with my personal experience, either in the UK or France. I don’t want to say to much just yet as i suspect many of the questions/remarks i had while reading are probably addressed in the last part of the report…
Good stuff, highly recommended. I’d be curious to read what people make of it, what it says of our “culture” as scientists, whatever it may mean depending on the institution/discipline/socio-economic context/subject/…
