I just wanted to draw everybody’s attention to a fantastic seminar series, being organised by Professors from Oxford and Kent Universities. In the year of Darwin, the series aims to “integrate current research in evolutionary psychology with key areas of application and social policy and to provide a link between academic research and those involved in making and implementing policy in both private and public sectors.”

I will be attending the seminars on Charity, Philanthropy, and Volunteerism next Friday and am very excited about it.

I think that with release of fantastic books such as Thaler and Sunstein’s Nudge, we are about to see the advent of a new era of thinking in policy and human behaviour. Evolutionary Psychology has much to offer agendas such as health promotion and crime prevention, while Evolutionary Biology has a great deal to contribute to our understanding of infectious diseases such as ‘swine flu.’ In the Year of Darwin I think it is only right that we celebrate that fact.

More info on the seminar series can be found at: http://www.kent.ac.uk/psychology/darwinsmedicine/#kent
