    • Sounds good to me! (And, hopefully people will be rested up after the previous night’s festivities — my book launch being Oct. 21 ;)

    • Pre-Bar Mitzvah photo night at the synagogue for us. Oh well, maybe next time.

    • Hey, be sure to let me know when the date’s confirmed and I’ll put it on the MaRS event listing as well as in our newsletter listings!

    • I’m flying to London that evening so I won’t be able to make it… have fun :-)

    • Planning is not going very well. Let me explain: we want to do a Nobel Prize themed pub night, and find people to talk about the various science-themed Nobel Prizes.

I kind of found someone for the Chemistry Nobel, but am having the hardest time finding someone who is available to talk about the Medicine Nobel. Time is running out, so now we’re trying to postpone everything to a day on which there are people available to speak.
Among the cancellations was an actual Nobel Laureate: Zur Hausen is in Toronto next week, but too busy with the Gairdner Award (which he also won) to come.

So the 22nd is probably not going to happen, and I’ll keep you updated on a possible new date. Now to let the venue know…

    • Oh, that would have been a GREAT pub night! You should, however, come to the Gairdner talk which is at MaRS. Should be interesting!

      It’s free but requires registration.

    • Well, I’m busy e-mailing people to see if it can still be done but a week later. Actually, I’m not busy emailing. I’m done e-mailing and waiting for replies. I have a suspicion that multiple people I contacted are at the same AIDS conference. Why did HIV have to win a Nobel? Everyone in the field is busy curing AIDS and has no time for pub nights, it seems! Wait, maybe that’s a good thing…

I’m registered for the Gairdner talk. It overlaps with Dan’s book launch, though, so I’ll miss the start of that. Why are things all at the same time?!
