Hello, I’ll be giving a presentation in the afternoon entitled Careers in science writing/editing, and in the spirit of these Web 2.0 surroundings I thought I would try an experiment to see if you would like to help shape the final presentation.
The presentation will cover general issues around getting into science journalism, the skills a scientist can bring to the trade, and what the job entails. However, if there is any specific area or issue in science writing you would like to be addressed, such as what training do you need, what makes a good science writer, or even whether blogging helps, please suggest it below.
I have no idea if this will work, but hopefully any comments below will help to create a final presentation that will be more in tune to your needs and requirements on the day.

Hi Simon,
Will you be doing any presentations like this in the New York City area any time soon? If not, do you know of any others like it in the New York area? I would be interested in attending one. Thanks!

Hi Simon,
is there a podcast of your presentation? I couldn’t find one. I would be highly interested!
Cheers,

Hi Wibke,
I just saw your question to Simon and wanted to add that we did again record most of the sessions of this year’s event. These need to be edited first, however, but will be realeased as part of the Naturejobs/Source Event podcast series in due course (hopefully before the end of the year).
Cheers,
Nils

Hi Nils,
thank you for this information. I will keep looking out for it then ;-) Looking forward to it!
Thanks,
Wibke -
Hi Wibke,
no problem. Another thought – you can also sign up to the Naturejobs RSS feed on the podcast-page, which would then deliver any new podcasts directly to your media player.
Best,
Nils
