Greetings Source Event participants!

In advance of the September 26 Source Event, Naturejobs is setting up an ongoing Question & Answer session with some of the meeting’s speakers. We invite you to ask them about their backgrounds, career paths, advice for getting in to a particular field or sector, relevant or important skill sets, etc. The relevant speaker(s) will post responses as soon as they are able.

The following speakers have kindly agreed to participate:

• Jim Loftus, Research Recruitment Manager, Pfizer
• Matthais Haury, Coordinating Manager, EMBL International Centre for Advanced Training
• Zonya Jeffrey, Biomedical Scientist, Central Manchester and University Hospitals NHS Trust
• Stijn Oomes, Assistant Professor in Human–Computer Interaction, Delft University of Technology
• George Schlich, Chartered and European Patent Attorney & founder of Schlich & Co
• Jonathan Yearsley, Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Ecology and Evolution, University of Lausanne
• Simon Frantz, editor–in–chief, the Nobel Foundation

As others become available, we will add them to the list.

A few basic ground rules:

1. Post each question as a separate topic in the forum. This will help keep the questions organized.

2. When posting or asking a question, we encourage you to briefly include your field and career stage (e.g. cell biology graduate student, environmental sciences postdoc etc.) so that speakers can tailor their responses appropriately.

3. Please read through the questions already posted before posting yours in order to avoid multiple versions of the same question.

4. Please stay on topic. We encourage free-ranging discussion, but questions that are clearly off-topic or inappropriate for a science careers forum will be deleted.

Thank you for your participation!
