Applying Systems Biology to Benefit Human Health Forum

Systems Biology is increasingly seen as a tool that can be used to tackle the challenges of modern medicine in general, and the development of innovative medicines in particular. A recent workshop addressed the question of what can realistically be expected from its application in the near term, focusing specifically on the impact it could have on drug discovery and development.

The objective of this Forum is to extend and develop the discussion that took place at this closed workshop, which is summarised in the Nature Commentary A Network Solution, by inviting opinion and comments from the broader research community. The information gathered here will contribute to the publication of a series of concrete proposals to be presented in a more detailed White Paper, where specific contributions from this Forum will be acknowledged. It is hoped that sharing these views openly here will provide a focus for this complex debate, and help to generate a consensus on the topics that have been raised.
