Are you tweeting?

I read recently that, unlike Facebook and MySpace, young people are not the ones using Twitter – it’s the oldies. And, according to the American Journalism Review, tweeting is vital for journalists who want to keep ahead of the competition.

Me, I can’t bear to add another thing to do to my day, which means I’ve avoided it… So what do fellow science writers think? Have you been you aided by Twitter?

    • I’ve just joined Twitter because I thought it might be a useful tool for advertising my Memoirs.
So far I haven’t been able to do so (advertising). However, I have noticed that my virus program has been very busy lately.

I like to keep an eye on all new internet developments. One never knows when syntax and/or semantics might surprise us.

At my age (75) I find that there is often something new under the sun, in spite of what a French philosopher once said.

    • At first glance twitter may seem unworthy of your time, but I have found it to be invaluable for information across the science disciplines I care most about.

    • I glean a few gems each week from Twitter. I follow a few of the science blogs and popular sites: scientific american, discover, nasa, tedtalks. I have posts that find their way to twitter form other sites, removing the necessity to post directly on the site. Now I can leisurely pop in once and week and the bits I harvest are worth the pickings.
