Incredible video interview with Nobel Laureate and President of Rockefeller University Paul Nurse on better collaboration between doctors and scientists:

There are some other real gems on this site. Any thoughts on the the interview with Nurse?

My Thoughts are that Church has a point about arrogance and system based rigidity….My mind goes back to a first trip to African rural areas many years ago. The news hype was all about African genetic mutations that made their bodies more susceptible to aids followed by speculation on promiscuous natures etc…I arrived in a country where freshly used underwear was sold in markets and people shared beds with multiple family members, There was little sanitation for areas contaminated by blood and mosquitos. People were constantly ill from contaminated water, their immune systems were compromised. It was a hotbed for predatory organisms.
It was a fertile ground for care and compassion without judgement. At that time aids drugs were offered as was the vaccine for pregnant women but the country was bankrupted by the aids orphans and struggled to balance the need for survival as a nation with the need for care of individuals.
In prosperous countries we see people paying thousands for stemcell therapy or other regenerative measures. Few companies are backing this up with research or outcomes. Instead we are treated to before and after videos and patients rights web sites. This is sad because I have seen real results with these therapies particularly when they are targeted to the area of need. With all these results where is the data to grow the regeneration concept. There are glib statements about growing cells out in massive numbers but no solid information as to how this is taking place.
Either way in famine or prosperity arrogance without outcomes or disclosure is a dangerous game
Just because something doesn’t turn out like you think it should doesn’t mean it is useless….
