Hello,
My name is Maz, I am a sociology PhD student at the university of york in the UK.
I am interested in digital social networks and how people use these to sustain their ‘real’ social networks. My main research case study is Facebook, but the research also covers an array of digital devices, social software and applications: from mobile phones, to Web 2.0 and the popularity of Social Networking Sites (SNS), SMS, SKYPE, VOIP, email, MSN, Chat…
I am doing a PhD as it is a natural progression to expand upon my own academic interests and I was able to secure a scholarship! :D

Hi everybody!
My name is Louic Vermeer, and I’m doing my PhD thesis in Toulouse (France), in collaboration with a group in Southampton (UK) and in Wageningen (Netherlands). The Netherlands is my home country.
During my thesis I’ll study the structure and dynamics membrane proteins and peptides, using solid-state NMR.
Why PhD? Because I love research and want to continue doing that. And it makes me feel like a student a little longer…

Hi,
I was browsing the web a few days ago when I stumbled upon a site called “Purely PhD” and thought I would share it with everyone on this PhD Students Forum.
This site appears to be updated daily with a wide range of articles from choosing the right PhD to your career afterwards. There are also many information links which have notes about supervision, thesis writing and post doc careers.
I would certainly recommend sparing a little time to looking at this site as it helps to answer many questions. The site can be found at:
