Hello everyone. I’m Pierre-Louis, I live in Brazil and am a Physics Ph.D. student at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (my home state).
I work with quantum optics and am especially interested in quantum computing. For now I have been working on the manipulation of spatial qudits (the logical analogs of bits for higher dimensions).
I’m doing a PhD because that’s the only way I can find work as a professor (I actually look forward to teaching).

Hi all. I am Shamsherpratap. I am pursuing Ph.d in cancer biology at Molecular oncology laboratory, The Cancer Institute(WIA), Chennai.(bioprospecting of novel compounds for drug discovery).
I am doing Phd just to be a self sufficient biologist who with the course of time can learn more from counterparts on the basis of what is acquired already at a place which provides a conducible research environment.

I am a PhD student in Microbiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
I am almost done but overall its been a great 4.5 years. I like to think that I’ve successfully avoided becoming the quintessential bitter grad student even with all the ups and downs
I’m am getting a PhD because I have a slightly twisted passion for all things pathogenic and really get a kick out of brainstorming with lab-mates on how to answer each new research dilemma!

I’m Alejandro and I’m a grad student in molecular genetics at P. Universidad Catolica de Chile.
I’m interested in circadian rhythms and RNA metabolism.
Also, I’m the editor of MolBio Research Highlights to which all you grad students are invited to contribute. Why doing a PhD? Tough question… I guess mainly because I really love science… if you don’t, you’ll have a really hard time.
Cheers!
