On the road between discovery and the marketplace resides intellectual property (IP) law and the Patent Office. Scientists are not routinely taught the details of IP law. Those associated with academic institutions rarely have hands-on dealings with patents. Few know their rights and responsibilities, and fewer still are familiar with the process involved in obtaining a patent.

This group will be a meeting place for legal professionals and scientists who have questions about IP law and obtaining patents. Post your questions about what is involved in obtaining patents.
