Having landed myself in it, I’d like to invite NN bloggers and anyone else interested to a small unconference on science blogging to be held in Cromer this February, to be called
Cromer Is So Bracing ’09
I’d anticipate that the gathering would be quite small and cosy (maybe 10-12 people) and take place over no more than two or three days. Having a small take-up would make choosing a venue easier than it might be, or even unnecessary … and promote an atmosphere in which we could get sloshed discuss matters of mutual interest in an informal setting. However, do let me know if you’d like to come, and what dates you’d prefer.
Once I have guaged gouged got a feel for how much interest there is likely to be, I shall progress synergise build capacity make further inquiries and come up with something more definite.
Having a decent logo is the most important thing. In that vein I invite Mr G. S. of Glasgow to apply his considerable photoshoppery to this picture

with suitable addition of golden retriever, etc etc. Mrs Gee will vouch for the fact that only minimal alterations are required to turn the jolly chap in the sou’wester into Your Host.

So where do we sign up – right here? Will there be a social program, or will the whole program be social? :)
-
Just sign up here, Steffi. All I’d need right now is an estimate of how many people would like to do this. I’d anticipate that the entire program would be largely social, and in any case, if we do go for something more formal, I’d very much like to go for an unconference format from beginning to end. Just let me know what you think.

I’ll get onto this (photoshoppery) forthwith – once I return from work.
Being realistic, financially, it’s gonna be touch and go re. North Carolina Science Online ’09 but I would looooove to go.
In the event that I can’t attend that event in person, I’m most definately up for Cromer Is So Bracing ’09.
Indeed, I think I’ll treat Cromer as the main event (as I can afford it) and NC as a bonus if I can scrape up enough dosh.

Brace me up, Scotty! Given the obvious lack of
decent aleblogging unconferences in Finlandia, I would be very interested in such an event. And the opportunity to actually
get drunk and descend into a bout of fisticuffsshake hands with the people I’ve been trading online insults with is too good to miss. -
Sign me up too, subject to approval from The Beast. I’d like to meet this Fowler loon too.
Eh? Oh.

I’m in! I would bring Goldie, but she doesn’t travel well and tends to go to sleep in group discussions.
Only proviso is I’ve a book out end of Jan, so publicity events for that (which can be quite last minute) have to take precedence.

I’m sure she and Heidi could form their own social program, which would consist of running in and out of the sea; digging holes; fetching sticks; chasing seagulls; barking; eating unmentionable objects found on the pavement, and other doggy activities.

I’m in and vote for an unconference session in the form of a walk on the beach, rain or shine.

Yay! I’ll wax my Barbour! (that sounded rude, though it wasn’t meant to)
Middle or late February works for me; perhaps something between the 18th and 25th of the month?

I feel a new website/blog in the making.
Given the informal nature, a wee blog should proably do it.
Logo time in da meantime.
