Guide to formatting Nature Network posts

I wanted to make this entry a “noticeboard” as I think it is a great resource, but I don’t have permissions. Maybe if Martin or Anna reads this, they might consider making a noticeboard entry to link to this great blog post which is called “Textism, a better guide to formatting in Nature Network”. It is by Andrew Sun and describes, er, how to format in Nature Network postings.
Although this post was written last year, I was alerted to it by a comment at Andrew’s blog by Heather, so thanks, Heather.
Here’s some draft text for the noticeboard which can be copied and pasted if Martin or Anna reads this:
A guide to formatting for Nature Network can be found at Andrew Sun’s blog.

What a great resource. Thank you very much for pointing it out, Maxine! I will make the entry into a notice.

No problem. I found it through the search engine, so it’s not all bad!

And thank you, both!

Thank you for referring my post. It was Bronwen Dekker ’s idea. Thank Bronwen!
The background system of Nature Network seems to have altered a bit, so some of the formatting skills in that post is not working now. I will review that post again as soon as possible.

Thanks, Andrew. There was a code release a few days ago. It might be an idea to check first with Li-Kim Lee that the changes you have seen are “real”, becuase there are one or two small bugs in the release which are being fixed.

I haven’t posted much on NN for a long time, but I’m thinking of starting again.
I have a question that is not so much formatting as posting per se. I was looking for a scheduling tool, which allows a post to appear at some pre-determined date instead of immediately. This is something that other blogging tools (blogger, for example) make available.
More generally, is there a place that lays out how to blog on Nature Network?

Hi Steve.
Nature Network was recently redesigned, so here is some information from Corie Lock, NN’s Editor about the new features.Scheduling posts is not possible at the moment, but a new platform planned for early in 2009 will allow this and many other features.
“How to blog” here is fairly intuitive, I have just had a quick look and cannot find a basic list of instructions, but if you go to your own blog there are some basics about how to post, etc, there.

PS, I wrote the above reply assuming you already have a blog here, Steve. If you don’t, click on the “request a blog” button and the NN staff will explain the system. You will have to submit a sample post, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a blog, but haven’t posted much. I look forward to the new platform.
