Science Blogging Conference: Full Steam Ahead

Good news all. The Royal Institution in London (where 10 chemical elements were discovered) have offered to host a European science blogging conference later this year, if we organise it.
Whoop!
ScienceBlogs are also onboard for this, so with you guys and their guys we’ll have an impressive gathering.
The first thing to do is pick a date.
To avoid clashes with the RI’s busy events schedule, and to make it easier for non-Londoners to attend, we think a Saturday would be best. The RI is available on these dates.
Aug 16th, 23rd, 30th
Sept 13th
So, what works best for people?

Oooh.

It’s in the diary. Now, all I have to do is convince the missus and reconcile myself to a lot of very dreary weekend travel and finding a place to kip.
Anyone willing to put up
witha large hairy Nature editor for the night, only slightly used, kind to animals, even kittens? -
I’d be happy to go to the conf & my vote goes to 13 September. August 30 could work too as I’ll be back in Europe late August. I suggest including as many SciFoo-like unconference elements as it is possible.

I’m really curious: how many of you, if any, are going to justify this as a “work-related expense” and try to not pay for this out of your own pocket?
It’s a conference, after all. It permits networking with people who could be professionally useful in the future. I’m a bit torn.

Excellent. Count me in.
Another vote for an unconference style, too.
-
I’ll third the unconference style. No idea if I’ll have the funds but I’ll sure try my best to be there.
-
Folks, Matt has created a specific forum for the conference. We can continue the discussion there, including the question of conference format.

Wonderful! Very much looking forward to it.
-
Great idea – I’ll certainly be there if physically possible.
