Science Blogging Conference: Full Steam Ahead

Good news all. The Royal Institution in London (where 10 chemical elements were discovered) have offered to host a European science blogging conference later this year, if we organise it.
Whoop!
ScienceBlogs are also onboard for this, so with you guys and their guys we’ll have an impressive gathering.
The first thing to do is pick a date.
To avoid clashes with the RI’s busy events schedule, and to make it easier for non-Londoners to attend, we think a Saturday would be best. The RI is available on these dates.
Aug 16th, 23rd, 30th
Sept 13th
So, what works best for people?

I’d love to come along. But 30th August is out completely. All other dates are fine.

As to names, c’mon Matt, you know you want to call it SciLon.

Please get your suggestions in soon. We’re going to pick the name of the conference and create a new group for it very soon…next week!

Euro Science Blogging is good, I agree. I only wonder if it will give the message that it is only for European science bloggers, rather than for any science blogger?
I’ve I’ve understood correctly, the “Europe” is the venue for the meeting, not the blog/blogger.So how about Scientific Blogging Conference 08? Would seem more inclusive.

I agree with Maxine that there is a possibility for confusion regarding the “Euro” name.

I’d favor dropping the Euro bit as well.
Currently I can make all proposed dates.

Seeing as I’m planning how to raise money to actually make it, I’d say drop the ‘Euro’ too.
