Science Blogging Conference: Full Steam Ahead

Good news all. The Royal Institution in London (where 10 chemical elements were discovered) have offered to host a European science blogging conference later this year, if we organise it.
Whoop!
ScienceBlogs are also onboard for this, so with you guys and their guys we’ll have an impressive gathering.
The first thing to do is pick a date.
To avoid clashes with the RI’s busy events schedule, and to make it easier for non-Londoners to attend, we think a Saturday would be best. The RI is available on these dates.
Aug 16th, 23rd, 30th
Sept 13th

The conference will be open to anyone who blogs about science, so please pass this link on to any contacts who might be interested.
The September date is most popular so far, but a few people don’t like it. It would be good to hear more opinions.
Oh, and I checked October with the RI – there are no free dates then, unfortunately.

I would love to go but I will probably not make it. Maybe August 16th would be the best day for me so I vote for that.

I’ll be back in the old continent in September, so if I could attend, 13th would be the best for me.

Hmm… interesting. September would work best for me but I can’t commit to attending quite yet.

I would attend, but cannot commit at the moment. I tend to agree with those pushing for December. August (the vacation month) is just such an ugly time to travel due to higher prices and increased volume at airports/hotels/etc…

It might be fun – haven’t defined myself as a blogger yet, but I suppose after a couple of years (on a non-NN, non-SB site), it just happens? I concur that later is better; the 30th or the September date are equally slightly possible. Keep us posted!

While we decide on a date for the conference, should we pick a name? Simply London Science Blogging Conference or something fancier? FWIW, the next North Carolina Science Blogging Conference will be called ScienceOnline’09.

The event may be held in London but may involve bloggers from much farther away than Underground Zone 6. How about dropping “London” for Science Blogging ’08?
