There seem to be new hope for neglected diseases R&D according to Paul L. Herrling (see the editorial of the February issue of Nature Drug Discovery). The hope comes mainly from a different approach to drug discovery taken by some of the big pharmaceutical companies and from collaborations with public-private-partnerships (PPPs) (see Moran M 2005).
My questions are: will it work? and what will pharmaceutical companies really get from it? Any suggestions?
