NOTE FROM MODERATOR: This question was initially posted as a response to a different thread; I have re-posted it here as a new topic to increase its visibility.

Hello,
I am trying to use fusion PCR with degenerative primers to mutate 7 continuous amino acids. When I sequence individual clones, this 7aa region turned out to be mostly CCCCCCC…. The chromatograph of these positions looked like mixed peak instead of one distinct single peak. Do you have any idea why these regions gave me CCCs? Could this be sequencing artifact? Thanks!
Xin
