Dear Members,
My question is whether we have environment where senior scientists, junior faculty and students can participate and exchange their views freely, free from positional difference. I have long experience of using and maintaining mailing lists, blogs, news groups etc., (more than 15 years) The aim of these blogs is to make a platform where we may discuss and understand each others view on a topic at equal level, where each member have equal right. Where we can express our ideas without fear. I have observed, most of time during exchange of our view we become personal and start to attack on each other. The aim is to make more and more friends and generate consensus on some topic, instead of that we become enemy of each other. Their are Internet adequate and guidelines of forum. None of us follow and react emotionally, slowly these blogs/mailing lists become dead.

On this forum I am in my personal capacity, I am not representing my institutes or organization, all my views are my personal views. I joined this forum in order to understand views of my other colleagues. I am observing a large number of users are attacking me personally, I do not know them at all. I came here to make more friends and end-up with making more enemies. I also analyzed why I am target of most of members. Most of members are attacking on system, I mean showing negative picture of system., when I show positive part of system these members feel, I am their enemy. Please remember in life person who oppose you views is not necessary your enemy. It seems we are same every where in system or on blogs, its matter of majority. We have majority of persons on blog who are not happy with indian system and they are expressing their view. Only few persons like me (minority) who have good experience with system so have different views. Another possibility is that they hate seniors because they have suffered due to these seniors. As I am in minority from both point of view, so I am their major target. It fit in theory majority or power wins, I accept your superiority and ready to leave this forum. If members doesn’t like me to participate in discussion then why I should participate. One thing I never understand in my life why can’t we leave at equal level (either senior will dominate or junior will dominate, Bahu will dominate or Saas will dominate etc.), where nobody dominate each other instead we respect each other. I am sorry if anybody got hurt from my messages, I have never ever intention to attach anybody on forum. Most probably, this is my last message to forum. I have request to think about environment where we all can coexist together at equal level. Wish you all the best for your mission.

    • Dear Raghava. No one blames you for that faulty recruitment in IIMTECH. Neither any of us has any hard feelings against you, so far I can tell. You are one of the most valuable resources of this forum. As you rightly said, very few people have in-depth knowledge on how the system works in India. Majority of PhDs or PDFs have seen only the surface of Indian science. Very few know how it works. How tough it is to attempt to change any thing in that country, mainly by staying within it. The problem is if you can not accept faults openly, then it’s very hard to try changing it. Almost everyone in India is frustrated for something or the other. They need justice and they know they will not get any. And that desire for justice makes them angry. They have every reason to be angry. Don’t you think so?
You almost always support the current system. You praise India when it’s not due. That deprives you to participate to improve that aspect of India. Of course we all like to see India prosper. I am sure you too have the same intension and that’s why you spend so much time in this forum. I will just request you to be a little more open. I think that will make a whole lot of difference.

    • We have high hopes from senior members here otherwise it sounds very scary to even to apply for jobs to India.

People gave you so many suggestions for recruitment and I believe few of them are excellent that’s why I requested you to summaries your own thread and write to GOI (DBT/DST or whatever) or even publish it in Current Science.

I sincerely request you not to taker any criticism personally. Some of the comments could be directly related to the irony, a person from IMTECH asking for transparency and than we see hiring process of IMTECH which is clearly favoring some selected individuals with God fathers and God Mothers.

This forum has become talk in most scientific circles in India and abroad.
