    • Dear Harpreet Singh
I have read your query on Current Science and find that this is a new (probably first time) fellowship for recent passed MSc students in India. This will be called as ‘Biotechnology Eligibility Test’ (BET) to be conducted on 19 April 2009. Not necessary only MSc Biotech student can apply for it, but I read on advertisement that even genetics and botany students may apply for it. The amount of fellowship is same as 12K and 14K as JRF and SRF.
It’s nice and welcomeable attempt by the government as now more students can benefit and do PhD in India.

      Thanks
    • Hello, I just wanted add that it stated few years ago, its similar to all other CSIR-UGC fellowships. You clear entrance exam, and get qualified in the merit list, and get in to a institute for doing PhD (after clearing interviews if any). You can check when it first started at http://dbtindia.nic.in/annualreports/2004-05/Extras/chap-03.pdf. Yes its nice one and It would be nice if some more opportunities/avenues are created/opened for coming out PhDs.
      Thanks
      Yogi

    • The CSIR-developed heavy vehicle simulator (HVS) drew visitors from the CSIR India and Dynatest, a Florida-based company, to CSIR Built Environment last week.

The Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) of CSIR India purchased an HVS on behalf of the Indian government from the CSIR’s commercial partner, Dynatest. According to the agreement, the HVS unit is being manufactured in South Africa. The CRRI does research and development in the areas of highways, bridges, traffic, transportation planning and related fields.
