Future of basic research in India

When will we see basic science research in India? I myself want to move to India but I do not see any grounds for simple biology research that can lead to quality research in India. Correct me if I am wrong. My information is probably web-based.
Just little about me. I did my PhD in cell biology from US University and currently a postdoc in medical school in US.
Thanks
Neeraj

Dear Neeraj good morning -
There are few centers in India where quality basic research in biology is taken up. People like Balram and Brahmachari are there to take lead in this direction but their works are not in your line. It is better for you not to be emotional at the moment. Changes are taking place through National Knowledge Commission and personal efforts of quality people from almost all fields. Till that moment comes, please bear with us and share the knowledge beauty of that place.

Dear Neeraj,
very true, there are really very few people/centres working for basic research. only few companies/some govt. organization are working into basic research. you can say CDRI, NIPER and some giant phama companies have budget for basic research.you can search their websites and check out the best option for you.
all the best!! -
While I akin all of your thoughts, I don’t think basic research would be coming rise in India unless we see researchers staying back in developed countries.
People like us should try to do something to uplift that status. My words might sound too pragmatic but I feel there must something happening, provided we all come together and establish an institute or work for India.
I’m pleased to inform you that I’m offered as Bioinformatics Engineer in CDAC, Pune start September 1. I will be done with my PhD by then.
Sincerely
prash
