Hi to everybody!
I would like to start this forum to ask anyone if he/she has tried to calibrate MALDI spectra with polymers and which works better at wide range (100-2000 m/z at least).

Thanks’ for taking the initiative to start the discussions on this forum. At the moment, we are only a few members, but I thought it would be an advantage to have a forum for small molecule MS research and development, exactly the kind of problem you are raising. I have not worked with MALDI instruments, so I can’t help you with the actual problem, I hope, someone more qualified will be able to assist you.
Even if I don’t have personal experience, I can suggest that you take a look on the guide ‘Methodology for Accurate Mass Measurement of Small Molecules’ published by LGC/UK, it has some nice general recommendations and in table two there is a list of common calibration standards. I don’t know if this is suitable for MALDI, but you may take a look at it ( download link: http://www.bmss.org.uk/Docs/VIMMS_guide.pdf )
I hope that by time, the forum will reach its ‘critical mass’. And certainly, an active forum with postings and knowledge exchange is a core instrument to spark the life of the forum. So – thanks again!
