Mouse Models of Metabolic Syndrome

I recently received and e-mail from a scientist who is looking for mouse models of metabolic syndromes (and other diseases) that could be used in trials with bioactive compounds. Any thoughts?
I could suggest the apoB/BATless mouse, which becomes obese and exhibits hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and hyperinsulinemia on a high fat diet. You can read more about it here.

thank you for your suggestion,
I downloaded the paper.
It is great that we can discuss these topics on the forum! -
Glad to help. If I think of any more models I will be sure to let you know.
By the way, if you want to focus just on obesity(not necessarily metabolic syndrome) you may want to look into the ob/ob (leptin deficient) and/or the db/db (leptin receptor deficient) mice.
