Today I would like to recommend the following paper (with help from Moshe Pritsker, whom I interviewed for my blog):
Emran F, Rihel J, Dowling JE. A behavioral assay to measure responsiveness of zebrafish to changes in light intensities. J Vis Exp. 2008 Oct 3;(20). pii: 923. doi: 10.3791/923.
The Journal of Visual Experiments (JoVE) uses video to describe experimental procedures. Video might not work well for all experimental procedures, and some videos are certainly easier to understand than others. But the technology has great potential to make research papers easier to understand.

Video-publication is especially useful to describe behavioral assays in model organisms. This is because a typical experiment in this field depends on many small technical details, which are difficult to learn based on traditional text description.
