Gene mapping courses

After this topic came up in another thread, I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread where we can tell each other about good courses we have heard about or even attended ourselves, and that we can recommend to others.
To make a start (and as pointed out in the other thread), several people can recommend the Summer Institute in Statistical Genetics, which is organised in different modules which can all be attended separately. To name just a few, they have modules about MCMC in genetics in general and in pedigrees in particular, QTL mapping and genome wide association. The instructors are excellent instructors and the course materials very comprehensive. There is the possibility of getting a scholarship from the organisers. From what I understand, they now encourage students from Europe to attend the European couterpart of the Summer Institute in Belgium.
I can also recommend the Wellcome Trust Advanced Courses, which are also very well organised with excellent instructors. They are residential courses which makes the interaction between the course participants even more intense and hence fruitful.

Hi,
In addition to two excellent courses that Barbara recommended, I strongly recommend “Genetics of complex diseases” course in Cold Spring Harbor. It runs every other year and the next one should be next summer. It is extremely good residential course and very well organized. They usually have scholarships for students covering part of the expenses.

Some more links for English-language courses available in Europe.
Netherlands Institute of health Sciences (Nihes) offers a number of international courses on gene-mapping in the framework of Erasmus Summer Programe (click the link and then go to “Human Genetics”) and their programme in Genetic Epidemiology.
