There is still time to book a place at our ‘Coaching for Scientific Managers’ workshop at The BioPark Hertfordshire on September 26th. Be quick! We have some places for £99 each to be given on a first come first served basis. Just type in the code – FIVE- during your online registration here to get the discount.
This practical workshop (being run by run by Liz Dickson of Yabber Myakka) will introduce you to coaching skills which are vital for scientific managers wanting to get the best out of their teams. The skills of coaching will help you to build your team’s skills, progress and solve problems, motivate your staff, increasing their responsibility and allowing you to delegate more. The session will introduce you to the principles, tools and models to help you effectively coach your team and give you an opportunity to practice some of the skills involved in effectively coaching yourself and your team.
Usually coaching courses focus on a model and set of questions – which will be covered – but we will look specifically at some of the areas of coaching that scientific and technical managers typically find more challenging when coaching. We will spend some time helping delegates understand these particular challenges so that you can understand and overcome the demands of them as coaches. We will include focusing on some specific areas of listening and questioning which may not be as well developed and which may be undervalued or discounted as unimportant.
This workshop is aimed at all scientists in a management position. It is particularly suited to those moving into lectureship, project management, group leader and lab manager roles. It is also ideally suited for those looking for promotion to a management role.
