The classification of hazardous areas and the installation of EEHA – Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas – is a subject not widely understood in the electrical engineering industry (with some exceptions).
Hazardous Area Classification techniques and the selection of specialist equipment for use in hazardous areas is often done badly, due to the lack of depth of knowledge in the field, resulting in poor, generalised results which while possibly safe, are grossly inefficient and result significant cost increases for component specification, installation, maintenance and inspection of control system plant.
The object of this group is to assist in the education of engineering professionals in this technology via publication of accurate and current information on www.eeha.net.au – which will in time be something of a hazardous area wikipaedia (with articles and data throroughly scrutinised before uploading to the live site).
