Evolution is for survival in different environment. What exactly survives ?

Well, I am not a biologist but I have this question in my mind.
If we evolve, our genes also modify from generation to generation. Then what does remain as such in the same form? For all the generations till now, nothing in our body seems to be remaining in the same state. We have evolved thus far for existence of what? DNA also changes, then what exactly survives? And for the shake of whose existence we are evolving?

Krushna, maybe you have answered your own question much better than we did! Is not your or for that matter mine or Madhusudan’s and Ramray’s quest for answers too a purpose of life? Aka immanent evolution? Of course I have stated earlier it is not a universally valid question. Other species exist and survive without this headache.
And yes thanks for pointing it out, I fully share your wish. Let our quest continue! And indeed it is becoming an evolutionary imperative! Look at the present problems and troubles in the world, perhaps you will be inclined to agree with me, that most of them stem simply from ignorance! And indeed if the present state of knowledge residing in the domains of the privileged few were accessible to more people, we could tackle even natural catastrophes (floods, famines, earthquakes, epidemics etc…) in a much better way than we manage to do at present, despite the available know-how and the technology!

May be species evolve for whatever they long for/wish for to achieve. It can be food, life, survival, skill or even knowledge or anything else.
Mustaq, you are right about impact of KNOWLEDGE and IGNORENCE on Human Life.
Some knowledge and wisdom must spread otherwise ignorence takes over the human life and may cause destruction and death. I feel, there are many who want to gain knowledge for his or her own purpose, but there are less who think on the need to spread it.I came across an interesing article and some comments. It is about evolution. It says something on how simple molecule also like to replicate and spread in huge number, in a soup! In case anybody is interested to read, here it is:
