Canadian Immigration

I’ve just finished writing a series of posts on my other blog detailing my experiences with the Canadian immigration system. This isn’t intended to be any kind of comprehensive “how to” guide, but rather an account of my personal experiences. However, some members of this forum may find something useful over there, even if it’s just my links to official government websites!
Part I describes applying for a work permit from within the UK to do a post-doc in Canada, and renewing and transferring the permit from within Canada.
Part II describes my application for permanent residence from within Canada, and my experiences with replacing a stolen PR card.
Part III is about becoming a Canadian citizen.

One of these days I need to blog about my experience with the Canadian Embassy in Berlin, in trying to get my study permit. It’s part Kafka, part Monty Python. I think have only just recovered from the trauma, and this was 7 years ago.

Great thanks for sharing your valuable experience!

This series was fantastic – thanks for sharing your experiences. I give you a lot of credit for pushing through all the red tape to get your citizenship! I wonder how Canadians in general would do on the citizen test?

I imagine most Canadians who read the news and have ever voted would do pretty well! The test was more a test of language than anything else
