Breast cancer molecular subtypes Forum

During the last decade, genomic studies have shown that breast cancers can be separated into a number of distinct molecular subtypes. These subtypes have been shown to be predictive of clinical outcome, have distinct responses to therapy, and contain distinct genomic changes. Epidemiologic data indicates that these subtypes may have distinct etiologies. It is currently thought that these tumors arise in different mammary gland cell types. Breast cancer is not a single disease. This group will be a forum to discuss the molecular subtypes of breast cancer, how they are defined, and how to study and treat this heterogeneous disease.
