here I’d like to get your attention to this interesting paper:
Innate immunity and transcription of MGAT-III and Toll-like receptors in Alzheimer’s disease patients are improved by bisdemethoxycurcumin. PNAS, 2007, 104(31):12849-54.
The first author, Milan Fiala, described the improvement of amyloid-beta (Abeta) clearance by macrophages through curcumin-induced increase of the transcription of MGAT3 and TLRs, and the translation of TLR2-4.
Although it is known a beneficial effect of certain antioxidants in the adjuvant therapy of AD patients, this is, to my knowledge, the first paper that demonstrates how the anti-beta-amyloid activity is linked to plant bioactive compounds.
