The idea of this forum is to provide foreign scientists with information about the ‘things to do’ when moving to Berlin, both in legal and social terms.
For a start, this link provides information by the Forschungsverbund Berlin (which translates into ‘Research Network Berlin’) in pdf format (a pdf reader will be required).
We will add more links to this page asap.

Various institutions also offer a service to make the move to Berlin easier.
Charité Berlin is one of them:

Berlin Info has a great portal with sightseeing information, health and lifestyle, arts and culture, etc:

On the “social” side, for newcomers to our group we compiled a list of “Things to do in Berlin” from our own experiences over time. Although it’s in need of a revamp and update (I can heartily recommend seeing Einsteins summerhouse in Caputh, to be added soon) , most links and descriptions should still be valid. see

On the “legal” sidem I found that going to the Buergeramt (for getting “burgered” ;) is something where even native speakers could use some help…
