We now have an exciting opportunity for a research scientist to join our editorial team in Tokyo, Japan. The ideal candidate will have a PhD related to optics and preferably postdoctoral experience with a strong research record. Japanese language skills and experience in the publishing industry would be beneficial but are not essential.
The successful candidate will play an important role in determining the papers that are published, and will work closely with the other editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, commissioning and editing of Reviews and News & Views, and writing for the journal. A key aspect of the job is liaising with the scientific community through laboratory visits and international conferences.
This is an exciting and intellectually stimulating position. Broad scientific knowledge, excellent literary skills and a keen interest in the practice and communication of science are a prerequisite. The successful candidate must, therefore, be dynamic and outgoing and have excellent interpersonal skills. The salary and benefits will be competitive, reflecting the critical importance and responsibilities of this position.
This position will be based at the journals head office in Tokyo, Japan.
The Nature Photonics team is part of a dynamic editorial and publishing environment that also includes Nature, Nature Materials, Nature Physics, Nature Nanotechnology, and the soon to launch Nature Chemistry.
