Assistant Editor position at Nature Methods in New York

Nature Methods seeks an Assistant Editor for its editorial team based in New York. The journal is specifically looking for candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: imaging, neuroscience and biophysical sciences.

This challenging job represents a unique opportunity to influence the development of a major scientific journal, both in print and on-line.

Members of the editorial team evaluate manuscripts, oversee the peer review process, commission and edit secondary materials such as Reviews, and write short pieces and editorials for the journal. The successful applicant will attend scientific meetings and visit laboratories to maintain contact with the international scientific community. The position will play a key role in consolidating Nature Methods presence in important target areas of methodological development.

Ideally, candidates should have experience with imaging methods in neuroscience or other relevant area but a broader interest and understanding of biology is also important. Excellent communication skills and a willingness and ability to learn new fields are a must. Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in the biological or biophysical sciences. Post-doctoral experience in biology is highly desirable.
