Internships at Nature: information?

Dear all,
I am looking for information about writing/editing internship programs at Nature, but I didn’t manage to find any information.
Where and when are these positions advertised?
How long does the internship program usually last? Does it start at some specific time of the year, i.e. should one apply at some special time? Is there an application deadline, and if yes, where can one find it? What kind of experience is required?
Thanks,
Claudia

Hello Deepa
This requirement will be connected to EU legislation and (in the UK) UK legislation, which has recently changed, rather than anything specific to NPG.In response to your question, NPG has various offices throughout the world, so you are welcome to enquire at an office relvant to you. Some of these offices may be able to offer temporary positions. (For example, as posted elsewhere in this forum, there is a regular temporary position available in the Munich office.)

Hello Maxine,
I have applied for NPG internship and now I am waiting for the announcement. Just like Deepa, I am an international student that is really expecting experience in NPG.
Pertaining to your answer to his question, I am a little bit disappointed since I am living in Indonesia where there is no NPG office. Is there really no opportunity for students from developing country to gain experience in NPG?
If that so, can I send articles to Nature editorial as a freelance contributor?
I am expecting your reply.
All the best,
Dyna

Hello Dyna
I’m afraid I can only give you the same answers that I’ve given other people here. This forum is an “ask the editor” forum, to answer people’s questions about the publishing process concerning their articles – for example, how a paper is handled, format, how the peer-review process works, and so on. Although we are happy to note various opportunities that come up in the editorial departments at NPG here, this isn’t a careers forum (there is one of those at Nature Network, however, which people are welcome to join).I’m not able to answer questions about NPG hiring policies, I am afraid – these need to be directed to the HR department in the region concerned. (Indonesia would be covered by our Asia/Pacific office in Tokyo.) As you may imagine, hundreds of people (literally) want to work or write for NPG, and many people apply for positions, including internship opportunities, when we announce them. So my general advice is to do something practical to demonstrate your ability at scientific writing or editing, which you can then use to support your application when a suitable opportunity arises.
Best wishes
Maxine. -
