National Symposium and UPACBICON 2008, JNMC, AMU, Aligarh, U. P. India Forum

Dear Colleague,
With immense pleasure, the Organizing Committee cordially invites you to participate in the National Symposium on Advances in Clinical Biochemistry – Biomarkers, Molecular Diagnosis and Quality Assurances & 1st U. P. Chapter of Association of Clinical Biochemist of India (UPACBICON 2008), being hosted by the Department of Biochemistry, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh on 15th-16th November 2008.
Aligarh is mainly famous for Aligarh Muslim University – an educational hub. It is one of the largest residential academic institutions in Asia, has twelve faculties, ninety eight departments of studies and thirty eight maintained institutions with around thirty thousand students on its roll from across the globe. Moreover, Aligarh Muslim University is known for its rich cultural heritage and traditional hospitality.
Aligarh is situated 130 kms south east of Delhi, 85 kms from Agra and 65 kms from Mathura. It is on main Delhi Howrah Railway track and G. T. Road. Nearest Airports are at Delhi and Agra.
The rapidly expanding knowledge of Clinical Biochemistry coupled to Quality Assurances at the molecular level is providing new targets for disease characterization, early diagnosis, and drug discovery and development. The increasing knowledge of the pathway activation profile in a wide spectrum of diseases is yielding new targets but also new markers to select patients and guide and predict therapy efficacy. In summary, several decades of intensive research have originated multiple factors or biomarkers that are likely to be helpful in the diagnosis, characterization, and therapy selection of various types of diseased patients. A deep understanding of the relative relevance of each biomarker will be key to efficiently diagnose diseases and direct patients towards the drugs more likely to be of benefit based on their particular profile. The development of new preclinical models is of paramount importance to achieve these goals.
Thus, at the National level, in order to develop an in-depth understanding and to exchange novel ideas, which may unravel multiple serious issues in modern clinical biochemistry, it has been decided to convene a National Symposium on Advances in Clinical Biochemistry. This would be of immense help in providing a platform for medical and life sciences scientists across the nation to discuss, deliberate and evolve novel ideas in the field of clinical biochemistry involving molecular diagnosis and advanced new era biomarkers and quality control / assurances in order to combat wide spectrum of diseases. Also, during this National Symposium, we are lucky enough to be awarded by the Office Bearers of UP-ACBI to hold the First Uttar Pradesh Chapter of The Association of Clinical Biochemist of India, launched on 29th March 2008 at Lucknow during the National Workshop on Prevention of Lead Poisoning.
Your participation will be an honor for us. Please confirm your participation at the earliest to enable us to organize the things in a better way.
With warm personal regards
Dr. Najmul Islam
Organizing Secretary
