How much of research could be “greened-up” if people only took a little more time in planning and properly executing their projects instead of just rolling along?

    • This reminds me of a previous post by Anna Kushnir. With the fear of contamination strong in my lab self, I am guilty of having used millions of disposable pipettes… packaging and autoclaving glass versions (for chemistry work) to sterilise them also consumed (other types of) resources. You are right that a lot of materials, energy, etc. could be saved if one planned projects properly… perhaps introducing a sort of conservation/sustainability element into the training curriculum of young scientists would help (unless such already exists these days).
