notextile. not working?

I want to put some xhtml in a blog post. According to the textile reference manual I should be able to put a notextile. block modifier in front of it, but that doesn’t work. Should it? If not, can anyone suggest a way of fooling the software into giving me some xhtml? Or, at the very least, giving a title attribute to a footnote?

Bob, you have too many whiskers to pass for a damsel.
Sorry I can’t help with the textile business. I don’t want to learn it.

I consulted with another NPG staffer and active NN user and she wasn’t able to figure this out.
We’ll be updating our version of Textile soon so with that update, you should be able to do this.
Sorry, not the most satisfactory answer, but we’ll get it fixed.
