In IE 7, I almost always get this effect when I first go to a blog post that has more than say 3 comments:
The problem goes away when you refresh the page.
At first I thought it was quite endearing, but now it is getting on my nerves. :)

I get it too, but in the previous IE (office) as well as 7 (home). The usual answer when one reports these types of effect is to be told to change browswers but personally I think that a system should support IE, FF and Safari (ie any commonly used browser).
I think it might be connected to the narrow central column of NN, as I’ve noticed the effect is often removed if you maximise the screen. On another thread I read that the narrow central column will be widened later this year when the new platform comes in…and I don’t mean the 12.42 to Redhill ;-) (I hope I don’t anyway.) -
I would like to add to Maxine’s comment regarding browsers.
I think that it is very important to support (and therefore test the site in the same detail on) the other major browsers. This is because:
1. In an environment where you do not have administrative privelages on your PC you might not be able to download any software from the internet without making a case for it.
2. Firefox, while beautiful, is very slow in comparison to IE on a low spec machine or when you have multiple applications open (in my experience). (I have not used Safari so cannot compare)
3. Most people who come to the site and experience a problem will not report it. They will just think: “This site annoys me, let me move onto the next link on my google search.” Unfortunately the internet is an environment where the experience is often more important than content. -
Bronwen, Maxine, we do test the site in both IE (version 6 and 7), Firefox and Safari, but as you have seen, we don’t always catch everything. Thanks for pointing this error out to us.

We will get this error this error fixed very soon.

Just to clarify, Corie, I did not mean to imply that it is Nature Network who “usually” advise to change browsers, I was meaning it is a general response by many site administrators.
Getting a bit off-topic here, so forgive me, but I use IE at work because I have to (that is the browswer our company uses) and at home partly to be compatible with work’s remote email system and partly because many commercial internet sites in the UK do not work in FF (banking and credit card sites).
I appreciate that feelings in the “geek” community run high about MS, but is is the platform that many of us use or have to use, so I think sites should be configured to work when using it.
After all that woffle, I want to say, that Nature Network is usually fine, the overlap problem for me is usually solved by maximising my screen, and I love Nature Network and appreciate all that Corie, Matt, Lee-Kim and Lesley do to make it such a good platform for us all to interact. Personally, I prefer NN to Facebook, NN is more friendly and useful to me, and I promise I am not biased in any way;-) -
Thank you Corie.
Unfortunately, the problem for me still occurs when the screen is maximised, but it does go away after one or two “refreshes”. :)
I am sorry that I “preached at the choir”.
