So what is everyone’s aim for the day? Looking to find a job? Get some advice from the talks or generally network with similar people?

I am extremely excited about this career fair. For me i would like to learn more about the world of Industry. Being ain academics for long how tough is it to actually cross to the other side of the scientific world…which many call as the real world. Particualrly i would like to know how easy or tough is it for a basic researcher like me to step into the commercial world of drug discovery. I aspire to continue working for anti-cancer research and would like to explore possibilities with like-minded organizations.

Hi Rajat, if that’s the case then I’d definitely be making a bee-line for the AstraZeneca guys. They’re doing some really doing some good work in the UK on Cancer therapies and should be able to give you some advice.

yeah i know Astra zeneca is one of the most important firm however, i think their labs are based in Manchester and presently i am not looking to relocate. I have to find something within London-Cambridge arena.

I am looking forward to attending this event mainly b’coz it gives me a chance to meet prospective employers and researchers like me. I agree with Rajat, we would get to know more about the world of Industry. Frankly its pretty tough getting people interested in you through mail. I think this kind of an open forum/event will definitely help.
